Trading or Buying and
Selling Matches
One of the best things about collecting
matchcovers is the camaraderie among the collectors. Most matchcover
collectors are generous to a fault and are anxious to trade off their
duplicates or the categories they don't collect. It is one of the very
best ways to enlarge your own collection.
You will find a large
number of collectors from all over the world that are willing to trade
at
MatchCover.org
Of course, a great way to get started as a
new collector (not having matches to trade) is to purchase ones that
appeal to you. Going to meetings and conventions will help you learn the
types of match covers available as well as the value attached to them.
You will find many times after you are more knowledgeable, that there
are a lot of people outside the hobby who really don't know the value of
a matchbook and will put on it any price they think the market will
bear. You will learn to recognize fellow collectors on ebay and other
sites that do know what they are talking about. Ebay is perhaps the
biggest purveyor of matchcovers in their auctions. You can access it at
ebay.com (Go to
"Collectibles;" then search for "Matchcovers" and
Matchbooks"). You will also find collectors with
websites that sell match covers at our
